Why I work this way.
Why do capable people and organisations repeatedly lose clarity or find themselves unable to move forward?
My career has taken me through engineering, leadership, project, program and portfolio environments. The roles and contexts have changed, but one thing has remained constant: I have always been interested in how the whole system fits together.
In complex environments, I look for connections and recurring patterns. A stalled decision may point to unclear accountability. A difficult collaboration may reflect poorly defined roles. A program losing momentum may be the result of several factors that reveal little when viewed in isolation.
Two decades of corporate experience have taught me to look beyond what is not working and ask what is sustaining it — and what needs to be in place for the organisation to work differently.
Today, I bring that perspective to Vital Structura: realigning existing organisations and systems and designing the structures, decision rights and ways of working needed for something new.
